Filey to Bridlington
After breakfast I set off in lovely weather from Filey, initially along the beach, then up onto the coastpath. I walked through a large holiday park and crossed from North Yorkshire to East Rydings of Yorkshire. Then along the next few miles of coast, I passed very high cliffs populated by gannets, razorbills and the odd puffin. I think this is the first time I've seen a puffin up close. In fact, I was puffin' too. There was a strange smell in the air from the birds' guano - a smell that was a cross between ammonia and digested fish! This went on for miles. The stretch of the coast along here must be one of the most important breeding sites for these birds. At North Landing , whilst having tea and cake outside a cafe, the cliff rescue tam were called out to the aid of a teenager who had fallen off some rocks. The lifeboat arrived as well as a rescue helicopter later on. By that time I had been round Flamborough Head and made it into Bridlington.
