Day 365
Folkestone to New Romney
ONE YEAR OF WALKING! Today I walked from Folkestone to a place near New Romney via Hythe, Dymchurch, St Mary's Bay, Littlestone on Sea, Greatstone on Sea and then caught a miniature train back to Hythe where I spent the night with my friends Angela and Duncan.

Day 363
Deal to Folkestone
Nicky drove me to the pier at Deal and I resumed the path from there. I had lunch at a lovely tea room near South Foreland and then on through Dover where I encountered some very steep sections of path. The first in a long time. Quite a shock to the system! Then onto Folkestone where I stayed the night.

Day 362
Broadstairs to Deal
I walked with Nicky for a few miles to a pub just outside and for a Sandwich where we met Mark and their son Joshua. Then I continued onwards to Deal on my own. From there I took a train back to Ramsgate and got a lift back up to Broadstairs.

Day 361
Herne Bay to Broadstairs
My brother Simon drove me back up to Herne Bay and I spent a lovely day walking right next to the sea without any detours and deviations back to Broadstairs.

Day 360
Faversham to Herne Bay
Today I walked from Faversham to Herne Bay. At Herne Bay Pier I was collected by my friends Mark and Nicky Andrews.
They took me to their lovely home in Broadstairs where we were joined by my brother Simon and we went for a night out on the town. Broadstairs is a great place!

Day 359
Sittingbourne to Faversham
Andrew Denyer and his parents met me at the hotel this morning and Andrew walked with me along the coast. The first couple of miles was through an industrial area and we had to find the path through a run-down yard were the signposts had been removed (by the owner I think). We asked the owner over the loud barking of her guard dogs where the path was and she directed us round an obstructing pile of debris and a broken fence! We were then able to continue along the Saxon Shore Way. The weather became hot with a breeze and we found ourselves walking along the bank of the River Swale. We stopped for a drink at a nice pub in 'Conyer' before continuing along the lovely path to Faversham. Andrew's parents collected us in the car and took us up to the hotel where I was staying. They very kindly treated me to drinks and dinner sitting outside.

Rest day in Sittingbourne.  Two days ahead of schedule. Heavy rain! Why not!?

I set off from Gillingham in good weather and followed the Saxon Shore Way through Upchurch, Lower Halstow and across to Sittingbourne. The path wasn't clear in some places and so I gave I gave up trying to follow it all the way! The forecast for the next two days is for heavy rain and I'm two days ahead of schedule with people to see on specific dates so I plan to put my feet up in a comfortable hotel!
